Plot Summary: Dorothy (Judy Garland), living in Kansas, is transported to the magical land of Oz with her dog Toto by a powerful storm. After unintentionally killing the witch who rules the land, she becomes revered by everyone. However, this does not help her find a way back home. The Good Witch of the North (Billie Burke) advises her to seek the Wizard of Oz (Frank Morgan), who resides in the Emerald City. To reach him, Dorothy must follow the Yellow Brick Road. The journey is long and fraught with dangers as the Wicked Witch of the West (Margaret Hamilton) tries to thwart her every move. Along the way, Dorothy befriends a Tin Man (Jack Haley) who lacks a heart, a Cowardly Lion (Bert Lahr) who lacks courage, and a Scarecrow (Ray Bolger) who lacks a brain. Together, they overcome numerous obstacles, but their success only intensifies the wrath of the Wicked Witch of the West.
