Argentina has successfully reopened its poultry products market to the United Kingdom.
The Argentine Republic has managed to reopen exports of poultry meat and products to Great Britain, following efforts by the National Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries, the National Service of Agrifood Health and Quality (SENASA), and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade, and Worship.
Through a formal note, the British Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs informed SENASA that it recognises Argentina’s self-declaration as a country free from highly pathogenic avian influenza, thus lifting restrictions on importing poultry meats from Argentine territory.
The British decision is also based on the information provided by the national agency that there is no risk associated with the entry of shipments of fresh meat and poultry meat products from Argentina.
Thus, the joint work carried out by SENASA with the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs continues to bear fruit in recovering export markets for poultry products.
In 2023, until the market closed in April due to the HPAI outbreak, SENASA certified the export of 272 tonnes of poultry products to Great Britain.
