Bitpanda’s Next Big Move: Expansion into the UK

Eric Demuth, CEO and co-founder of the cryptocurrency exchange, is accelerating growth. His sights are now set on the UK and the Middle East, backed by millions in funding for a rapid expansion and a major marketing push.

The bold “B” is making its presence known. Bitpanda has been actively sponsoring the NFL broadcasts on German television, including last weekend’s Super Bowl. The fintech firm features prominently in TV adverts, social media campaigns, and billboards, promoting its brand with FC Bayern Munich football stars and tennis player Alexander Zverev (27). Additionally, during Germany’s recent general election campaign, Bitpanda donated a total of €1.75 million to CDU, CSU, SPD, and FDP, an act widely reported by “Bild.” With the resurgence of the cryptocurrency market, CEO and co-founder Eric Demuth (38) is evidently shifting into expansion mode.

Now, his ambitions lie beyond Germany—Bitpanda is heading to the UK, as revealed by manager magazin. The British market has long been on Demuth’s radar. “If it weren’t for Brexit, we would have entered much earlier,” he said during a video call, casually sitting on a sofa and stroking his dog, Picci. Regulatory delays meant that UK authorities took time to establish the necessary framework for crypto trading.

To facilitate the move, Demuth has now secured a UK trading licence through the acquisition of a small British provider, which, until now, had no active customers. The company is set to officially begin marketing its services in the UK in May, marking a significant step in Bitpanda’s international expansion.
