Mauricio Pochettino Unveils Three ‘New Signings’ for Chelsea vs. Liverpool Clash After Late Transfer Decision
Mauricio Pochettino and Chelsea may not have made any new signings in the recent transfer window, but there are positive developments on the player front as they gear up to face Liverpool. Despite a quiet transfer window, Chelsea has seen notable improvements, winning three out of five matches in 2024 and showing a better overall performance. However, one key player has been notably absent in recent weeks.
Christopher Nkunku, who made his debut just before Christmas and played in four games before the New Year, has been sidelined for the past four weeks due to a hip injury sustained in training. Mauricio Pochettino expressed his frustration at the lack of opportunities for Nkunku in the preceding six months of his Chelsea tenure.
Now, with the crucial match against Liverpool approaching, there is a positive update on Nkunku’s status. Pochettino mentioned, “I think it is good news, Malo Gusto and Christoph [Nkunku] can be in the squad for tomorrow,” indicating the potential return of these players. He added, “Travel with us, with the team, that is good news. We will see. We will wait for the last moment, but at the moment, yes, it’s good news to have two players recovered.”
Both Nkunku and Gusto have shown their prowess when on the field this season, but injuries have limited their playing time. Gusto, in particular, has faced disruptions due to various knocks. As the team prepares for the upcoming challenges, the return of these players could provide a significant boost to Chelsea’s lineup.
